Colombia’s largest public company has been named among the world’s most popular jobs for February.
According to a list released Tuesday by the Associated Press, the Colombian company Medecins Sans Frontieres, known for its efforts in Colombia and abroad to combat the spread of HIV/AIDS, has been ranked No. 1 among job postings in the country for the month of February.
The AP said Medecin Sans Frontières had a job posting in Colombia’s capital Bogota, and the company was seeking more than 10,000 people.
The news comes on the heels of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission announcing the company has earned $3.9 billion in revenue for the past three years.
“This is the first time that we have been listed on a list like this, because it’s the first major company to be named in the list, so we are very proud of that,” said Pablo Gómez, the chief executive officer of Medecis Sans Frontiereres, in a statement.
Gómeso added that the company’s annual revenue is $15.3 billion.
The company, which has operations in Colombia, Mexico and Brazil, is a global leader in preventing the spread and eradicating the virus.
Medecimans latest achievement came in May, when the company became the first to provide condoms to HIV-positive people.
“Today is a good day for the people of Colombia, because this is a very important milestone for our work,” said Gómedes predecessor, Francisco Carrero.
The Associated Press also said Medex is a major company with operations in 20 countries, and employs about 300,000 workers in Colombia.
